At Podium Sport Consulting, our committed team members have over 35 years’ experience in talent management and sports marketing in the AFL, including long stints as former
players, and are skilled in advising and supporting our clients throughout their sporting careers and beyond.
Our focus is to reach and exceed each client’s expectations during contract negotiation, endorsement and communication campaigns. We guide the careers of our athletes across all
forms of media and continually work with them to ensure their financial success.

Rick Olarenshaw
After retiring from the AFL career in 2001, including a premiership with Essendon, Rick travelled to London to expand his sports marketing knowledge with English sports marketing company athletes1, later to be acquired by the Essentially Group.
Rick launched the Australian operations for the company, and over the next decade as CEO, built Essentially into one of Australia's leading sports marketing company.
As an AFL agent, Rick has negotiated hundreds of playing contracts.
With contract negotiation and talent management as his specialty, he represented many high profile sports stars including Brownlow Medallists Adam Cooney and Jason Akermanis, Brendan Fevola, Wallabies coach Robbie Deans, a number of International Cricketers such as Chris Rogers and Darren Lehmann, and athlete Tamsyn Lewis.
Tom Williams
Having recently retired from playing AFL football after a ten-year career with the Western Bulldogs, Tom is currently completing a Bachelor of Business and a Diploma of Financial Services (Finance/Mortgage). He is also a member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).
Tom proved to be a resilient character, never failing to put in the time, effort and patience required during his AFL career. These qualities have definitely transferred into his new working career, an energetic, motivated and highly dynamic person. Tom has strong working skills and a broad range of hands-on and theoretical experience ranging in many areas.
Adam Cooney
When not on the football field, Adam works with Podium Financial Services and Podium Sport Consulting in a client relations role, with the hope that he will be a larger part of the company in the future.
Adam has celebrated a highly decorated career playing professional football for the AFL. The number one draft pick in 2003, Adam began his career at Western Bulldogs Football Club. He quickly become one of Australia’s finest football players, and in 2008 was included in the AFL All-Australian team and awarded with the Brownlow Medal. Adam now plays for Essendon Football Club.
